Alabama-based producer and artist Flight Volume released a catchy pop-rap single titled “Lowkey Lonely” featuring artists Search for Hiraeth and Abstract last Friday, August 22nd. Fans of artists such as Chase Atlantic, The Kid LAROI, and blackbear would appreciate the hip-hop beats mixed with the tear-jerking lyrics this song provides. This release marks the artist’s seventh studio collab, following other songs such as “wish you well” (2025) with BEAMIN and BYANCA, “Wedding Ring” (2025) with Mike Squires, and “stay (2025)” featuring Search for Hiraeth and Sleeping With Siren’s Kellin Quinn.
Behind the bass filling listeners’ headphones, the lyrics provide a scenario of longing; yearning for a chance to be with that special person, but also not wanting to go through the pain of what it would take to lose them entirely again. Rather, choosing to remain alone to protect your own heart from the pain, which can be interpreted from the lyrics: “Known to get a little bit attached, little out of whack / little masochistic cause the type I’m choosing never last / Different fonts spelled it out the same / I mean what a thought/ Thinking they could weather through the rain / cold as all they thought / frozen on my motion, but I’m heated off the disrespect / It’s a flex, fact that disappointment hasn’t killed me yet / Lowkey, I’m lonely / and I want you right beside me / but I need to be lonely, now, now/ And lowkey, I’m lonely / and I’d kill for you right beside me / but I need to be lonely now, now.”
