Evan Kreutz confronts uncertainty on newest single, “maybe”

Date:

NYC-based rising pop-rock artist Evan Kreutz released his latest single “maybe” on August 1, a closer to the rollout for his upcoming debut EP, look what i can do, due this fall. Known for his blend of alternative rock, folk, and punk influences, Kreutz once again leans into raw honesty, but this time tackles the quiet heartbreak hidden in indecision.

Lyrically, “maybe” captures the frustration felt when a tentative answer is really a polite rejection. The sentiment is underscored by the track’s production; understated guitar lines intertwine with brooding percussion, creating a sonic push and pull that mirrors the song’s emotional tension. His vocal delivery carries an aching edge, turning the single into a bittersweet anthem for anyone left wondering where they stand.

In a recent interview Kreutz shared,

“The message of my music is to embrace life as yourself—the highs, the lows, all of it—because you only get to be you once. I want my songs to feel fun but have depth, much like how I see myself. If you’re not enjoying life, then what’s the point? My goal is to make a sustainable living creating and performing music for people who feel the same way I do.”

With “maybe”, Kreutz has delivered a track that’s equal parts catchy and contemplative. It’s a song made for late summer drives, introspective nights, and the universal experience of reading between the lines. If the single is any indication, look what i can do will not only solidify Kreutz’s place in pop-rock, but also cement him as an artist who can make vulnerability feel both personal and cinematic.

While “maybe” lands in a more introspective space, it joins a recent run of Kreutz tracks that showcase his versatility. “last call” (May) radiated spontaneous joy, while “ode to an ex” (released in late July) delivered moody, regret-laced reflection. Earlier standouts like “Dandelion” (Nov. 2024) positioned Kreutz as a storyteller unafraid to wrestle with fleeting love and acceptance.

In a recent feature with The FADER, he revealed his unique color-driven writing process, describing how he associates songs with specific palettes and cinematic moments, often imagining how they’d soundtrack a coastal drive with the windows down.

On the live front, Kreutz has already begun testing his new material on stage, most recently appearing at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC this June as part of a multi-artist showcase.

Stream “maybe” on all platforms now, and keep an eye out for Evan Kreutz’s debut EP this fall.
