Nashville-based singer Emmy Law has released “You and I Know,” a heartbreaking indie-pop ballad about finally realizing nothing can be done to make a relationship work.
It marks the singer-songwriter’s first release in over a year, following the uplifting “Park Place.” In “You and I Know,” Law sounds more vulnerable than ever as her soft vocals and harmonies shine through the acoustic piano-driven production reminiscent of Taylor Swift‘s folk-inspired album, evermore.
In the chorus she sings, “You and I know I tried / You and I’d rather fight it out than wait for something right.” While Law recognizes they weren’t meant to be from the beginning, she closes the song acknowledging they had good intentions: “Don’t we all desire to fall in love?”
