Indie pop trailblazer EMELINE shares her new ’80s pop-inspired single “Emotional Virgin.” Combining strong synth-pop influences with feathery vocals and sapphic glamor, EMELINE’s latest musical effort is a celebration of love, camp, and undeniable drama.
Following her previously released single “PORN STAR,” EMELINE is keeping the sexual flair alive with “Emotional Virgin” while traveling down a more vulnerable path. Through her charming explorations of sex and romance, “Emotional Virgin” ultimately serves as a celebratory tribute to EMELINE’s late partner.
“‘Emotional Virgin’ is my very first love song,” the singer explains.
“It was inspired by the experience of having my guard down and being completely seen for the first time, particularly about my first romantic relationship with a woman. It’s about feeling those new raw emotions that make you feel like you’ve never even loved before. She sadly passed away a few years back around when I wrote this song, but releasing it feels really special and her energy definitely lives on within the music and beyond.”
EMELINE’s new single arrives alongside a cinematically sensual music video inspired by the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Co-directed by EMELINE and Paige Strabala, the music video for “Emotional Virgin” only heightens the track’s sensational thrill.
“She’s such an incredible creative who puts her all into the art she makes,” EMELINE says of Strabala. “It’s beautiful when everyone involved cares the same amount, you can make anything happen.”
