elijah woods has released a new single titled “Slicked Back Hair” off his upcoming debut album, Can We Talk?, scheduled for release on October 14.
With “Slicked Back Hair,” the Canadian artist-producer delivers an upbeat feel-good anthem filled with bright guitars and his signature catchy pop hooks. The accompanying music video features footage of his high-energy live performances – a perfect match for the track.
woods opens the song describing an old version of himself, singing “A small-town no one, a young love-a-holic / A late-night drunk text left unacknowledged / A number I saved knowing I’ll never call it / A ‘just this once’ if you want it.” While he instantly pulls us in with self-deprecation, the singer explained how the record is actually about personal growth, saying it “is about meeting someone who changes everything – the kind of person who turns you from a caterpillar into a butterfly.”
