It’s time to put some respect on Kevin Jonas’ name. In addition to his titles as guitarist, actor, and cultural icon, he now adds solo artist to the list with his debut single, “Changing.”
Kevin is famously known as one-third of Grammy®-nominated Jonas Brothers, a beloved trio who became the ultimate teen heartthrobs 20-years ago. They came back together in 2019 with a more grown-up sound, but still kept that fun, electric vibe we all fell in love with. Most of us have pretty much grown up with them, and their music’s been there every step of the way. After two decades of ups and downs, milestones, and everything in between, we’ve truly seen it all—but now, we finally get to see Kevin step out on his own, sharing his voice with the world. Speaking for all Jonatics, Kevin, we’ve always believed in you. This is your moment!
The 38-year old debuted “Changing” on the JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour at Fenway Park back in August. Videos of the performance spread like wild fire. His wife, Danielle, shared a video of herself watching Kevin sing solo for the first time. Watching that moment through her eyes, my screen was definitely getting blurry from the tears.
@danielle.jonas Last night was a moment I will never forget. Hearing you sing your own song and watching your voice fill the stadium brought me to tears. I am beyond proud of you @Kevin Jonas and so grateful that everyone else finally got to hear the voice I’ve loved for so long ❤️
“Changing” was produced by Mark Schick and Jason Evigan. The song beautifully showcases Kevin’s higher vocal range. And of course, it ends with an epic guitar solo, the perfect finishing touch to a powerful debut.
Kevin shares:
“To me, it’s evocative of going through the motions with life and continuously trying to improve yourself. Life keeps changing, and the song is a positive reinforcement of that idea. It says, ‘Don’t let things get stale,’ which is embodied in the ‘coffee’s cold’ line. You need to know when to move onto the next thing and you also need to keep moving no matter what the situation or relationship is. I’m stepping into my next thing.”
This week, Kevin went on The Squeeze, a podcast hosted by the Lautners, to share the journey that led him to releasing this solo single. He mentions that he’s been working on more music, but is unsure of what will come from it. Could an album be on the horizon?
