“Don’t You Wanna”: Big Sleep’s new indie anthem

Date:

Dublin’s Big Sleep are keeping their momentum going with their latest single “Don’t You Wanna,” out now via LAB Records. Produced by Chris W Ryan (NewDad, Just Mustard, Cardinals), the indie track captures the band’s signature sound with fuzzed-out guitars, a driving beat, and unique vocal tones. Frontman Rónán Connolly’s vocals stand out throughout.

It has the feel of a live anthem made for a big crowd, the sort of song you can imagine hearing at a festival. The chorus sticks right away. It’s instantly memorable with a hook that you’ll be singing without realising and humming long after you’ve stopped listening.

The rhythm comes together with ease, giving the track that classic indie feel. In the past few years, the critically acclaimed group have put out their debut EP, played festivals like Latitude, Electric Picnic, and Forbidden Fruit, and taken their music on tour across Europe.

Big Sleep came together partly at school and were shaped by Dublin’s vibrant live music scene, something that comes through in their sound. As The Daily Telegraph put it, they are “another great young Irish band carving an interesting space between quirky modern pop and shiny indie rock.” Big Sleep are gearing up to hit the road later this year for their Winter EU/UK tour, with shows lined up in their hometown of Dublin as well as London, Berlin, Paris, and more. Tickets to their shows are available here.
