Global pop superstar Doja Cat has announced that she will not be performing at Austin City Limits 2025. The news came via a social media statement on August 29, where the “Woman” singer shared the following:
“Unfortunately, I will not be performing at Austin City Limits this year. When I made the commitment, I didn’t know exactly when Vie would be released. I’ve been working on finalizing the album, making videos, taking the time to put together an album campaign that I am really excited about, and it’s become clear to me that I cannot give you guys the show you deserve within this time frame. Thank you to the ACL team for their support and I hope to see you all again soon when the time is right. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.”
This is not the first time Doja has cancelled a highly anticipated performance; the star cancelled her entire lineup of festival runs and guest appearances in the summer of 2022, including Lollapalooza and Hangout Fest, due to an urgent throat surgery with a lengthy recovery time.
Doja Cat was slated as the headliner for both weekends of the 2025 festival, wrapping up the event on both Sundays (Oct. 5 and 12). The response from ACL ticket holders has been mixed. Her withdrawal has ruffled more than a few feathers, with several Instagram users demanding refunds for their tickets. It is unclear at this time whether the event organizers will be offering said refunds to eligible customers.
Fans of Doja Cat have expressed strong frustration with her, with one Instagram user commenting, “the only damn reason i bought a ticket was for doja cat, what a waste of money.” Others are unbothered, as another user shared, “hot take this is great news doja cat sucks”. Another group of ticket holders was disappointed in the ACL team’s choice of a replacement: Las Vegas rock legends The Killers. Many feel that Doja should have been replaced with an artist from a similar genre.
While the cancellation is certainly disappointing for anyone hoping to see Doja Cat perform new music from her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie, coming on September 26, fans can still catch her live on her Ma Vie World Tour. Tickets are available here.
