Actor, producer, and singer Djo, known equally by the name Joe Keery, released his latest singles “Carry The Name” and “It’s Over” via AWAL on September 8 and 9.
First single “Carry The Name” is a melancholic track that explores the somber feeling of getting out of a relationship, still carrying that person near to one’s heart and seeing them in everything they do. It’s a brief, sweet-sounding blend of The Beatles, Declan McKenna, and Arctic Monkeys circa Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
“It’s Over,” the second single, is an even slower continuation of the story in “Carry The Name.” The narrator reluctantly accepts that the relationship is done, similar to his track “Delete Ya” from The Crux, but much more mellow-sounding. This song incorporates spoken-word voicemail samples, speculated to be the voice of an ex-girlfriend. (Fun to note, fans have cleverly and unsurprisingly jumped at the opportunity to comment on the renaming of this song to “It’s Djover” on social media.)
The pair are the first singles from the solo artist since the release of his album The Crux, which debuted in April 2025. The third studio album features the standout hit “Basic Being Basic,” which landed the rising artist his first #1 single on Billboard’s airplay chart.
Djo’s international hit “End of Beginning” took off last year, a nostalgic track that landed the artist in top spots on music charts worldwide, including peaking at #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top ten on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The actor will headline on two dates of the All Things Go festival in both New York City on September 26 and in Washington, D.C. on September 28, alongside other big names in music, including Lucy Dacus, Gigi Perez, and Rachel Chinouriri in D.C., and Doechii, Kesha, and Lola Young in NY. More information and remaining tickets are available here.
Djo will continue his almost sold-out Another Bite Tour across North America at the end of September, making stops at the Austin City Limits music festival in Austin, Texas, in October. Keery’s band Post Animal will accompany the entire leg of the headlining tour dates. Remaining tickets to all dates are available here.
