Dan Berry releases debut single “Call it a War”

Date:

Dan Berry has released his debut single “Call it a War” and it is one that has been surrounded by excitement by fans since the announcement.

Berry made a name for himself by starring in The Outsiders on Broadway, where he is mostly known for his role as Paul, but is currently taking over the part of the eldest Curtis brother, Darrel, until November 9th.

Dan Berry packed the chorus with emotional tension, showing the thought of being caught in a battle with himself: “It’s not all about you / But now it’s about you / I don’t wanna start it but I think I gotta call it a war / Said I’m a lover not a fighter but we both know what we’re fighting for / We’re fighting / We’re dying.”

He chooses to identify as a lover rather than a fighter, suggesting that he prefers peace rather than conflict, but the hard-hitting lyrics help to show the realization that conflict can’t be avoided. The conflict seems to be something that cannot be easily resolved, as calling it a war gives the impression that it can be something life-changing for all parties involved.

From start to finish, “Call it a War” is packed with an emotional battle. Dan Berry presents a state of reluctance from being drawn into conflict that he didn’t want to have to start in the first place. There is also a theme of standing up for what you believe in, and the emotional toll that can be taken when something good becomes destructive.

Keep an eye on Dan Berry, as fans hope to hear more of his solo projects in the future.
