dacelynn pays tribute to those she holds close in the world on “porcelain”

Date:

It is tough to navigate the world alone. I mean, it can be done, but it wouldn’t be the same without friends or family. Whether we want to admit it or not, there will always be someone we can’t live without, someone who makes going through life a lot more pleasant. Without these people, who are we?

This is a question that dacelynn explores in her latest single “porcelain.” Co-written with Devon Again and produced by runner, “porcelain” finds dacelynn in a vulnerable place. There’s some tinges of melancholy that emanate from the heavy-hearted lyrics, which stand out against the guitar and piano. All the while, dacelynn’s voice maintains its sweet timbre as she sings, “I don’t know anything about the world without you.”

In the video below, dacelynn brings the story of “porcelain” to life. We see her dressed in a jumpsuit and arranging a beautiful bundle of flowers in an ornate vase. She then puts on a helmet and gloves and whips out a bat. After she smashes the vase to pieces, we discover that dacelynn is in a smash studio, where she is ready to break any and all objects that come her way. It provides an interesting contrast to the gentle sonics of the song, but it is also very fitting.

Telling us about the inspiration behind “porcelain,” dacelynn shares,

“I thought I was nothing without the people I’d grown so attached to, so the thought of having to navigate the world without them terrified me.”

“porcelain” is the latest single to come from dacelynn’s upcoming debut EP, nine lives. She has already introduced us to this project through the release of previous singles like “moat” and russian doll.” Overall, the EP features themes of loss, love, self-discovery, and growth, providing a well-rounded look at dacelynn’s coming-of-age journey. nine lives will be released December 5 via Nettwerk Music Group.
