It has been a solid summer for folk-pop artist Christian Hayes. In May, he released “Something To Lose,” which focused on the beauty of having something in your life that means a great deal to you, something that is worth losing. A couple months later, he released a reimagined version of the single with fellow folk-pop artist Corey Harper. Fans and critics have connected with the song, with outlets like The Luna Collective calling it a “soaring meditation on gratitude and emotional risk.” It has also been featured on notable playlists like Fandom Daily, Country Central, and Prime Time Country Music. It is evident that Christian is a flourishing artist with much to offer, and with his new single “Good As It Gets,” he continues to share his singing and songwriting talents with the world.
Written by Christian, Steve Solomon, David Hodges, and Andrew Jackson, and featuring production from Brett Truitt (Mat Kearney, Maggie Rose), “Good As It Gets” captures the splendors of a patient kind of love. It’s an easy-going song, essentially, containing twangy electric guitar lines and warm, acoustic guitar strums. All the while, Christian’s rich folk-pop vocals shine as he sings, “I have never been the type for a slow burn / But she, she opened up my eyes / Now I’ve learned / To cherish every detail / And to trust that everything will come in time.”
About “Good As It Gets,” Christian shares,
“I’ve always wanted to rush love—never been the type for a slow burn. This song is about letting love take its time—and actually enjoying that time, enjoying the pursuit. It’s about letting love do its thing and not rushing it or forcing something. It’s about falling in love the right way.”
“Good As It Gets” is out now via Capitol Records. You can listen to it here.
