It’s possible that you were first introduced The Runarounds on screen. It’s also possible that you were first introduced to The Runarounds online, when their debut EP dropped in 2023. So, are they a real-life band? Are they fiction? They are both.
The rock band contains members Jeremy Yun, William Lipton, Zendé Murdock, Jesse Golliher, and Axel Ellis, who were first put together by Outer Banks showrunner Jonas Pate in 2021. The intention was to feature them in a season 3 episode of Outer Banks, which aired in 2023. Along with their debut, they released a live EP and went out on tour. Now, they are back to star in their own show, The Runarounds, which will be available September 1 on Amazon Prime.
In the trailer below, which features “Funny How The Universe Works,” viewers will become more familiar with what to expect. Essentially, the series will follow the five members as they try to navigate life as a newly formed rock band from Wilmington, North Carolina. They spend the summer after high school trying to make it big, all while encountering love, fallouts, awkward predicaments, and tons of coming-of-age experiences along the way. Oh, and there will be lots of original songs and performances.
The Runarounds will air September 1 on Amazon Prime.
The soundtrack for the series will also drop on September 1. You can pre-save the album, and listen to the singles “Funny How The Universe Works” and “Senior Year,” here.
