Carlie Hanson Releases First Collab Track, “Ego”

Date:

After giving us some lonely, insecure vibes last month with “Good Enough,” Carlie Hanson has decided to switch things up.  No more doubt.  No more insecurity.  No more invisibility.

On “Ego,” the alt-pop artist takes on an edgier, more confident persona.  The person she describes on this track does not rely on others for validation.  Instead, this person makes others like what they see.  As Carlie sings, “Sit down, let my ego speak” and “Eyes low, keep it so high-key,” we cannot help but feed off this energy.  We have all met someone like this before, and we have all felt at their mercy.

In addition to all of the sass that comes through, there is a great push-and-pull energy present throughout the track.  The music, for instance, switches from dark and moody to light and reflective, as Carlie touches on feelings of envy and desire.  There is also a dynamic, fiery energy  presented in the anecdote from Iann Dior (“Mood”), which compliments Carlie’s verses very well and rounds out the track.  All of these elements keep the track fresh, and make it a compelling listen.

Ultimately, “Ego” is a reminder that we are all capable of going after what we want.  If you convince yourself that you can do something, then there is no reason to think that things will not work out.  And, who knows, you may just inspire others along the way.  You can check it out below.
