Brush up on your Oasis history with Ted Kessler and Hamish MacBain’s ‘A Sound So Very Loud: The Inside Story of Every Song Oasis Recorded’

Date:

Oasis. Where do you even start?

The British rock band’s 30-year history holds much to explore, from Noel and Liam Gallagher’s dynamic to the omnipresent force that is “Wonderwall.” Fans have their reasons for loving them, critics have their reasons for hating them… But in the end, Oasis have made waves with their style, tours, fallout, reunion, and of course, music.

While many books have been written about Oasis, there has never been a book that has focused solely on their music—until now. On August 19, music journalists Ted Kessler and Hamish MacBain will release A Sound So Very Loud: The Inside Story of Every Song Oasis Recorded. Together, Kessler and MacBain deliver a definitive, thorough, and highly detailed history of Oasis and all of their songs. They also include background and cultural context to the songs, giving fans a broader understanding of the band’s catalog. In doing so, they re-introduce Oasis to older fans and familiarize newer fans with the band.

As for Kessler and MacBain, the two have close ties to Oasis and the band’s management, so they have had dozens of opportunities to interview the Gallagher brothers over the years. In the book, they chronologically re-visit the conversations they had between 1994 and 2004, adding more detail to the music and band as a whole. Additionally, input from designers and photographers is also included, as they break down familiar sleeve-art and imagery.

You can pre-order a copy of A Sound So Very Loud: The Inside Story of Every Song Oasis Recorded on platforms like Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

On October 3, Oasis will release deluxe editions of their sophomore album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, in honor of its 30th anniversary. More details can be found here.
