Alt-pop band Beach Weather is kicking off the summer with their latest track, “High in Low Places”. The band had quick success in 2023 with Alt Radio charts #1 hit “Sex, Drugs, Etc,”, which reached Gold certification in Canada and Platinum certification in the United States. Following this success, the band kicked off 2024 with a sellout headlining tour of their debut album, Pineapple Sunrise.
The band explained that “High in Low Places” focuses on finding emotional equilibrium during difficult times. Lead vocalist Nick Santino sings, “You and I got some troubles we’re facing / I know we can make it staying high in low places”.
About the new release, Santino said:
“We like to call ‘High in Low Places’ our apocalyptic love song. There was beauty in the idea of finding peace in one another while the world was slowly melting. We wanted to create something that felt cinematic, the closing credits of a modern end of times western. There are hints of those influences in the guitars and strings running through the chorus where we want to pull everyone into a world but stay hopeful that we can all rise above that insanity transpiring around us.”
Beach Weather has already released an official video for the new track, which has attracted 37,000 views since its premiere on May 31st. The video itself has a very apocalyptic view, reflective of the band’s vision for the song.
Upon the song’s release, Beach Weather posted on Instagram: “Welcome to our desert disco”, with fans in the comments sharing their wishes for a new album. Hopefully, there will soon be more to come from the band as Beach Weather heats up this summer.
