BATTLEFLAGG Dives into the Dark Side of Nostalgia on Haunting New Single “Ghosts”

Date:

BATTLEFLAGG is an experimental voice in the ever-evolving indie scene. Both in sonics and subject matter, BATTLEFLAGG sheds light on ideas that we don’t often see represented in the modern music scene. His upcoming EP Solastalgia revolves around philosopher Glenn Albrecht’s definition as coined in his 2005 article. Albrecht defines solastalgia as, “The homesickness you have when you are still at home.” BATTLEFLAGG’s new single “Ghosts” is the first single off his Solastalgia EP and it perfectly captures the eerie, remorseful feeling of returning to a place that has changed in meaning over time.

“Ghosts” stuns like an apparition with enticing riffs, bold strokes of percussion, and a growling lead vocal that boasts an unmistakeable uniqueness. The music video for “Ghosts” is equally as stirring as we follow the protagonist through the expansive wilderness and cold cityscapes alike. At it’s core, the song is about navigating the world and taking in the harsh changes from the beliefs you had when you were young. In many ways, it’s about missing and longing for a place you can’t ever get back to. “Ghosts” is hauntingly true and sonically magnificent as BATTLEFLAGG reflects on his past with newfound revelations.

BATTLEFLAGG was formerly the frontman of the Dangs where he opened for the Ramones, Third Eye Blind, Cake and Train to name a few. His new single “Ghosts” was produced by the esteemed Daniel Knowles who has priorly worked with Sharon Van Etten and Cigarettes After Sex. “Ghosts” is his latest release and the first track off his upcoming EP Solastalgia.
