LA-based artist Ali Angel has just released her bright and sunny new single, “Tell Me”, channeling the nostalgic vibes of 90s summer pop music to convey the excitement that comes with having a crush. Ali Angel describes the meaning of the song herself:
“I started writing this song about my girlfriend when we were still just friends! It’s about the tension and fun in feeling a chemistry with somebody and waiting to see where it may take you.”
Starting off with some punchy drums and a twangy guitar, we can hear Angel’s country music influences straight away. Angel’s sweet and lighthearted vocals add to the summery feel of this track as she speculates that the other person feels the same way as she does.
As the song builds, we’re treated to special elements like harmonized vocals and finger-picked guitar riffs that give “Tell Me” a vibe that’s true to her typical retro-soul style. Her vocals shine towards the very end of the track as she sings the last few words. This is the perfect summer song to sing along to in the car with your windows down.
