“This album speaks to the experiences of being a father, being a friend to oneself and others, and the happiness I’ve found in doing what I love for a living. I feel incredibly fortunate to travel the world and connect with people through my music as well as having had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented musicians, songwriters, and producers on this project.”
Joe Jonas confidently ventures into a new creative chapter, reintroducing himself to the world on Music For People Who Believe In Love. The record, his first solo project since his 2011 solo release Fastlife, showcases a bold evolution light years ahead. Signaling a significant leap in his artistic journey, he explores the thrill of new love, painful breakups, and becoming the person you’ve always hoped to be. The 14-track album highlights Jonas’ vocal versatility with each song offering its own unique sound. The GRAMMY-nominated singer has curated the perfect soundtrack to all your summer moments, including standouts “Honey Blonde,” “My Own Best Friend,” and “Constellation.”
Jonas announced the name of his solo project in July of 2024. That same month, he released “Work It Out,” the first single of three, giving fans a taste of what was to come. Originally set for an October release, the album’s timeline shifted when the singer found himself flooded with new inspiration. The delay was worth the wait, as the final product has delivered a sound that is even better than anyone could have imagined.
Music For People Who Believe In Love opens with “Woven,” a jazzy instrumental track featuring DOMI and JD BECK. “Parachute” kicks things into gear with a high-energy rock sound that feels like it came straight out of The Breakfast Club soundtrack, clearly inspired by music created in the 80s. Fans of DNCE will find familiar grooves, but with more emotional depth: “Even if I’m late to the party (Oh yeah) / Even if my boots get dirty / Dancin’ in the cage with thirty / I’ll be fine, yeah, I’ll be fine, yeah / I don’t know where I might land / Got life back in my hands / I’m dustin’ off my parachute.”
“Only Love” was the first song written for the album, originally intended for the Jonas Brothers, but ultimately felt like a story that was meant to be told by Joe. “Heart By Heart,” co-written with Lewis Capaldi, Savan, Oscar Holter, and Max Gsus, tugs on the heartstrings as the singer leaves the door open after a breakup. Since its release, Jonas has performed the hit on The Voice finale, released a Live From Vevo Studios performance, and dropped an official music video where he was able to tap back into his acting abilities.
“Honey Blonde” and “Velvet Sunshine” share an easygoing vibe — perfect for a day at the beach or unwinding on the patio with a glass of wine. “Honey Blonde” explores the idea of a familiar face coming back into your life for a season and sweeps you into the bliss of falling in love: “My honey blonde, you turn me on / Sweet reprises, summer eyes / Our past mistakes, we’ll break today / So turn me on, my, my honey blonde.” Joe becomes the first of his brothers to feature Franklin Jonas, the youngest Jonas sibling, on “Velvet Sunshine.” Jonas first debuted the track earlier this year during his show at Universal Studios Orlando.
“Sip Your Wine,” featuring Sierra Ferrell, and “My Own Best Friend” feel like therapy in the form of a song. Both songs explore the idea of doing the work to become a better version of oneself. The lyrics in “My Own Best Friend” speak on the idea of being good to yourself and finding new beginnings: “Take what’s left and build a bridge again / Oh, and I’ll take the steps to be my own best friend / And I might be down, but I’m not dead / Oh, and I’ll take the steps to be my own best friend.” Meanwhile, on “Sip Your Wine,” Jonas shares that he’s “Learnin’ two things can be true”—you can mourn the loss of something while still moving forward.
On “Hey Beautiful,” Jonas collaborates with Louane & Tiny Habits to deliver a vibrant love letter to his daughters. The songs explores Jonas’ journey into parenthood, capturing a depth of love he never thought was possible: “Angels fall to earth to catch a sight of you / Said that they found heaven in your eyes / There’s a list of things for love I’ll never do / First time I saw you, I changed my mind / Hey beautiful, all I do for you / Give you my life and my heart on a string.”
Jonas closes out the album on a reflective note with “Constellation.” The singer touches on the idea that everything comes back around, often returning when we least expect it: “Some stars, they burn out / And some come back around / It’s a constellation.”
