Zolita brought Queen of Hearts Tour to Exit/In

Date:

The stars in our eyes from experiencing the most vibrant and theatrical performance from iconic gay artist, Zolita are still shining bright. Zolita brought her first headline tour, Queen of Hearts Tour to Exit/In in Nashville, TN on Sunday Sept. 23.

On the eve of her birthday, Zolita gifted us with songs that were a blend of beautiful themes from euphoric, sapphic experiences to heartbreaks and loss. From where I stood, there was a dark silhouette blanket of hands waving in the air, homemade pageant sashes dancing off of chests. When it came time for just Zolita and her acoustic guitar, quiet love and adoration were felt through swaying bodies and singing lyrics back. All engaged attentively as Zolita would make conversations in between songs asking fans questions regarding their dating and relationship experiences which made her stage presence down to earth to earth and relational. In addition to her musical declaration of queer love and introspection, a melodramatic voice amplified from the speakers setting the tone for each act before transitioning into the next song.

What sets this New York native apart is the presence of storytelling in all of her production. Whether she is directing her own music videos such as fan favorite “Bloodstream,” creating visual worlds or editing, her filmmaking roots show up as the creative catalyst in her sets. Pageant themed with country music undertones, Zolita nestles in between two energetic dancers and bring the heat with their irresistible and enchanting choreography.

After selecting the best homemade pageant sash worn among fans, the show ends with one more melodramatic voice announcing Zolita being the ultimate winner as a tiara is placed on her head. But, this would not be a true sapphic evening without closing with her viral hit “Somebody I F*cked Once.”
