Wolf Alice bring Blue Weekend to New York City

Date:

This past Saturday night, Wolf Alice brought their stunning Blue Weekend tour to New York’s Bowery Ballroom —  a fairly intimate venue when you consider the massive nature of this band. We’ve been a fan of their music since their first album, My Love Is Cool; the British rockers exude coolness and a charisma that’s unmatched among rock music today, and this tour has seen them level up to bigger rooms and excited audiences that hang off of frontwoman Ellie Rowsell’s every word.

Opening up the show was Bria (recently seen playing with Orville Peck), who played a sultry set filled with rock sounds and smooth covers. The duo consisting of Bria Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings hails from Montreal and got the intimate venue in the right mood for the headliners.

Wolf Alice then stepped onto the stage to one of the most passionate crowds we’ve ever seen. They opened up their set with “Smile”,  from Blue Weekend, and then launched into “You’re A Germ” where the crowd excitedly opened up the mosh pit and danced around to the grungy song. Singer Ellie Rowsell sang each song with precision while guitarist Joff Oddie and bassist Theo Ellis encouraged the crowd to “go fucking mental”. The audience and the band were radiating a similar type of energy through to one another throughout the set, and everyone in the venue seemed to be having the time of their life. After a lengthy set that pulled from all three of their albums, the band closed out their set with the modern day staple, “Don’t Delete The Kisses”, from their Mercury-Prize winning second album Visions of a Life and thanked New York once again for another amazing show.
