TOUR KICKOFF: Inhaler return to USA for long-awaited headlining tour

Date:

Irish indie-rock 4-piece Inhaler have made their long-awaited return to the US for their North American leg of the international Open Wide Tour. Their first show was in Huntington, New York, last night and drew in an estimated crowd of over 6,500.

The queue for the concert started early in the day, with the line circling the block around The Paramount Theatre in Huntington hours before doors opened. Radio Free Alice opened before the Dublin band stepped onto the stage clad in their usual all blacks.

These past couple of months, Inhaler have been making rounds on the summer festival circuit so their setlist has, of course, expanded to 16 songs from the 9 heard at the Sea Here Now Festival just last week. Still there have been some changes to the list from the last leg of their international tour.

“Open Wide” has been shifted from the opening song to the encore, with “My Honest Face” now number one on the setlist. “Eddie in the Darkness” has been cut from the show, replaced by “Concrete” from their latest album Open WideThere has also been the addition of “Cheer Up Baby” from the debut 2021 album It Won’t Always Be Like This. “Your House” and “It Won’t Always Be Like This” remain as the closers for the show.

During the bridge of “Dublin In Ecstasy,” lead singer Elijah Hewson hung his microphone over the barricade for the audience to sing, only for someone on stage to hilariously sing instead.

Shirts ($35) and sweatshirts ($75) from each of the band’s albums were on sale from the merch stand along with a dedicated white tour t-shirt. There were also tour and song posters available from the stand, along with a white tote bag, black cap, sticker packs and lighters ($30). Vinyls and CDs of all three Inhaler albums — It Won’t Always Be Like This, Cuts and Bruises, and Open Wide — were also sold.

The tour will continue for another seven headlining stops and 2 festival stops in the US. Ticket information can be found here.
