STYX’s Nostalgic Rock filled the Ryman Auditorium

Date:

As the lights dimmed and the iconic electric band, STYX, entered the Ryman Auditorium last Saturday, the nostalgic rock era filled the room. The night was a timeless show full of new songs from their newest album, Crash of the Crown and hit classics like, “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights),” and “Come Sail Away.”

STYX effortlessly transported the audience back to an era of rockin’ hard, bell-bottom pants, and unforgettable melodies. The enduring vocals of Tommy Shaw and James “JY” Young, accompanied by the virtuosic keyboard skills of Lawrence Gowan, were nothing short of breathtaking. Gowen performed several solos that were rigged on a 360 degree spinning keyboard that serenaded the crowd into a trance. The tight rhythms provided by bassist Ricky Phillips and drummer Todd Sucherman anchored the band’s performance, capturing the essence of STYX’s timeless sound.

But it wasn’t just the music that made this evening a trip down memory lane. The Ryman Auditorium, itself a treasure trove of history, added an extra layer of enchantment to the experience. The beautifully ornate surroundings seemed to embrace the music, creating an immersive atmosphere that blended seamlessly with STYX’s unforgettable performance.
The band’s ability to build immortal themes, infectious excitement and vibrant spirit made this an unforgettable evening that will forever be etched in the crowd’s memory.
