Julien Baker serenades Atlanta with "Little Oblivions"

Although not quite sold out, Julien Baker brought in a sizable and incredibly energetic audience to Atlanta’s own Variety Playhouse last Saturday evening. After many months of waiting for live shows to return, it only seemed right that Baker made a point to firstly thank the audience for following the venue’s policies that allowed them to continue touring this year.

While Baker’s latest release, Little Oblivions, has had a more than positive reception, longtime fans seemed pleased to hear a few older tracks from Baker’s first EP, as cheers could be heard throughout the audience alongside the beginning guitar notes of “Sprained Ankle”. At one point, someone from the crowd yells for an encore, to which Baker simply replies “I’m still playing brother…we’ll get there”. Few words are spoken between songs, but few are needed as Baker’s succinct and beautiful lyricism almost casts a spell on the audience that leaves them enraptured, and ready for more.
