Last Tuesday, London’s Islington Assembly Hall welcomed Mirador, the British-American band formed only last year by Jake Kiszka (guitar, vocals) of Greta Van Fleet, Chris Turpin (guitar, vocals) of Ida Mae, Mikey Sorbello (drums) and Nick Pini (bass), stopping by as part of their first solo tour, presenting their debut album Mirador.
After the opening set by Lady of Mars, the band kicked off with “Heels of the Hunt” and “Raider”. The set continued with more high-energy songs like “Feels Like Gold” and “Roving Blade”, followed by solos from Nick and Mikey in “Syncopated Symphony”. The show then shifted into a more mellow section, with Jake switching to acoustic guitar as the crowd enjoyed more tracks from their debut album, including “Fortune’s Fate”, “Ten Thousand More to Ride” and “Must I Go Bound”, as well as Mississippi Fred McDowell’s “Diving Duck Blues” cover. Just before the encore, the band went back to electric guitars like “Blood and Custard” and “Ashes to Earth”.
The encore featured Mirador’s “Skyway Drifter”, closing the night while the band handed out their traditional red roses to the crowd as a goodbye.
