Cameron Whitcomb delivers a high-flying, sold-out night at The Orange Peel

Date:

Cameron Whitcomb ignited a sold-out Orange Peel with backflips, big singalongs, and unforgettable moments on April 11. The night felt special even before the first note at The Orange Peel. A sold-out sign went up at will call early, and fans packed in loud and ready. By the time the lights dropped, the energy in the room was already at full volume.

Stella Lefty opened the night and quickly turned the crowd into a choir. Her cover of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus sparked one of the first major singalongs, with Lefty sharing how growing up on Hannah Montana made the song personal. She followed it by introducing her newly released track “Boston,” a song about a crush that shaped the tone of the rest of her set. What caught her off guard was the response. Fans sang the lyrics back word for word, earning smiles on stage and a promise that Asheville would be a must-stop when she returns.

As the stage cleared, “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne pulsed through the venue while the band took their places. The anticipation broke when Cameron Whitcomb sprinted onstage and backflipped straight into “Hundred Mile High,” a track with over 35 million streams on Spotify. The crowd answered immediately, singing every line and setting the tone for the night.

He kept the momentum rolling through “Pretty Little” and “Shoot Me Dead,” with each song tightening the connection between stage and crowd. Before “You and Me,” Whitcomb joked that if anyone planned to propose, now was the time. One couple took him up on it. He jumped into the crowd to celebrate with them, turning a song intro into one of the most memorable scenes of the night.

Later, Stella Lefty returned to the stage for a duet on Whitcomb’s cover of “All Your’n” by Tyler Childers, bringing the night full circle and keeping the energy steady. Whitcomb leaned into fan favorites throughout the set, including “My Expense,” “End of the Morning,” and the newer “Kingdom of Fear,” which he introduced with a focus on mental health and vulnerability. Before “End of the Morning,” he shared that he’s been sober for two years and ten months, a moment that shifted the room and added weight to the songs that followed.

His cover of “Creep” by Radiohead kept the crowd locked in, while “Quitter” appeared to close the night as the band stepped offstage. The crowd refused to let it end. A chant for Cameron grew louder and louder until the band returned. The encore, “Medusa,” a track with over 155 million streams on Spotify, hit with a final surge of energy. Fans sang every word, holding onto the last moments as Whitcomb thanked Asheville for being a favorite stop on the tour. One final backflip closed the night and sealed a performance built on connection, crowd energy, and shared moments.

The Fragile Egos tour stop at The Orange Peel delivered a night that never lost momentum, driven by singalongs, surprise moments, and a sold-out crowd that stayed loud until the very last note.

And lucky for fans who have yet to see him live, Whitcomb isn’t finished yet. You can find him playing two festival dates at the end of this month, followed by a headline run through Australia and New Zealand before he returns to North America for a few more headline shows, festival appearances, and to support HARDY’s THE COUNTRY!
