Jxke switches genres with “Change”

Date:

Jxke

Jake Morell, AKA Jxke is an alternative artist in the Philadelphia area who’s built his career from the ground up. Music has been a part of his life since he was just seven years old, and he’s been in and out of numerous bands since he could pick up a guitar. In 2023, he decided to try a solo career. His powerful debut single “fiftyone” was received incredibly well amongst pop-punk fans. Jxke notes his early influences to be artists such as Linkin Park and Blink-182. While he looks back on his earlier work with pride, he’s now taken a liking to making softer sounds.

“Change” is wildly different from Jxke’s previous releases. Instead of the heavier pop-punk he’s used to, “Change” is a slower, acoustic melody. The track sets his voice as the main focal point, and succeeds in recognizing that while Jxke can hit it out of the park & make a rock banger, he can also shine in a more stripped-down setting. The lyrics are bittersweet- touching on how change is always inevitable, even within the people who swear that they won’t change. This single not only shows off Jxke’s success in switching between genres, but also lets his personality peek through as he opens up to his audience.
