The Austin, Texas duo Hovvdy (pronounced “Howdy” for those uninitiated) have been steadily releasing great music for a good while now, and they’ve deftly fine-tuned their brand of lo-fi, hushed, life-affirming folk with every release. Last month they announced the release of their new album True Love with its remarkable title track, and they’ve now unveiled two new tracks that similarly continue the leveling-up that this band seems to bring to the table every time they put out new music.
“Around Again” and “Junior Day League” are both prime examples of the Hovvdy sound: lush acoustic guitars, a propulsive drum beat, and nearly-whispered vocals from Will Taylor that gently unfurls into a beautiful, swirling sound.
