You’ve had such a rich musical journey—from folk to classical to pop. How is your solo work reflecting this versatility in your new music?
My solo work is really a reflection of all the genres I’ve explored over the years—pop, R&B, rock, indie, classical, gospel, country, and more. Having the freedom to draw from such a wide range of influences has been incredibly rewarding. I love blending elements from different styles to create something fresh and true to who I am. Every genre has something unique to offer, and I enjoy finding the beauty in each one while shaping a sound that’s uniquely mine.
What themes or messages are you exploring in your upcoming releases?
In my upcoming releases, I’m exploring themes of self-discovery, resilience, and emotional honesty. I want my listeners to see parts of themselves in my music—to feel understood and less alone. We all face moments of doubt, heartbreak, and uncertainty, but I hope my songs remind people that there’s always a way forward, and that growth often comes from the hardest times. More than anything, I want my music to be a source of comfort, strength, and connection.
How did your time with The Chosen Girls shape your approach to writing and recording as a solo artist?
My time with The Chosen Girls gave me a solid foundation in performing and collaborating, but becoming a solo artist has opened up a whole new world creatively. I’m writing more than ever and have the freedom to experiment with different styles, genres, and lyrical approaches. As a solo artist, I’ve discovered a new level of artistic independence and personal expression. It’s been empowering to explore what truly inspires me, and this journey has helped me grow not just as a musician, but as a storyteller.
Can you give us a glimpse into your creative process—what inspires you when you’re crafting new songs?
When I’m creating new music, it really starts with whatever I’m feeling in the moment. I don’t sit down with a strict plan—I let my emotions lead. If I’m in a playful or upbeat mood, I might end up crafting a fun pop anthem. But if I’m feeling introspective or going through something heavier, the music naturally leans more indie or mellow. That emotional honesty is what drives my writing. I also love the freedom of not being tied to one genre—it keeps the process fresh and lets me fully explore the different sides of myself as an artist.
Are there any particular songs on your upcoming project that feel especially personal or powerful to you?
One song on my upcoming album that feels especially personal is Is It in the Stars for Me. It reflects my own struggles with overthinking and how those thoughts influence the changes I’m making in my life. While I’ve learned to manage negative thoughts, I’m not immune to them, and I know many others face the same challenges. This song is my way of letting people know they’re not alone in their struggles—it’s a reminder that we all go through tough times, and it’s okay to not have everything figured out.
You mentioned wanting your music to uplift and inspire—how do you channel positivity into your songwriting?
One thing that deeply influences my music is my Christian faith. It’s the foundation that keeps me grounded, especially when life feels uncertain. I believe that God knows my struggles and always finds a way to remind me of His presence—even in moments when I feel disconnected. My faith helps me shift my focus from challenges to the blessings around me: my home, my friends, my family, and the opportunities I have. I’m constantly reminded of how much I have to be thankful for. Above all, my faith teaches me that everything unfolds according to God’s plan, and even in the toughest times, I hold on to the belief that resolution is on the way. That belief fuels my strength and inspires me to keep moving forward, which I channel into my songwriting to uplift and encourage others.
What can fans expect sonically from your new material—are you leaning more toward a specific genre or blending styles again?
Fans can expect a dynamic pop album that captures the emotional rollercoaster many young women experience. There are moments of empowerment, where I feel unstoppable, and times of vulnerability, when I feel defeated—and I know I’m not alone in those feelings. This album blends those highs and lows, offering a mix of upbeat, energizing tracks and introspective, soulful moments. Ultimately, I want my music to remind listeners that facing challenges is a part of life, but it’s the strength to rise again that defines us.
Have any recent life experiences influenced the direction of your latest music?
The inspiration for my current album comes from the pivotal stage of life I’m in right now. After recently graduating from high school and preparing to start my journey at Berklee College of Music, I’m navigating a period of significant transition. Through my upcoming songs, I want to embrace and explore these changes—capturing the excitement, uncertainty, and growth that come with stepping into a new chapter of life.
Are you collaborating with any producers or musicians on this new project that you’re especially excited about?
At the moment, it’s just me and my producer, Jamil Gaston, working closely on the project. Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with a few other talented musicians, and those experiences have been incredibly enriching for my growth as an artist. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue expanding my team and work with even more musicians, writers, and producers to bring fresh perspectives and new energy to my music.
