Feel free to take a couple of obligatory deep breaths to prepare yourself before diving in head first to the artistry of Grammy award-winning trio RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s most recent release, Inhale / Exhale Remixed.

This expansion of the original album that dropped in October 2024 reimagines their original sound with the help of a diverse group of creatives from all different parts of the world and ranging in roles within the music industry, including Swiss duo Adriatique, Turkish-Italian underground favorite Carlita, and Haitian house producer Francis Mercier, just to name a few. All the while with so many different hands in on this project, the album stays true to the core of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s creative niche with their focus on sonics and emotive lyricism, pioneering modern electronic music.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia and composed of Jon George, James Hunt, and Tyrone Lindqvist, this release marks their fifth studio album, gaining popularity with each drop. The original Inhale / Exhale album preformed extremely well, as it was nominated for Best LP/EP at the 2025 Rolling Stone Australia Awards, debuted on the Billboard 200, and reached #1 on U.S. dance radio. Really getting audiences going in the best way before kicking off their world tour, now the highest-selling solo electronic tour in history, selling out a majority of their stops as well as making festival appearances at Lollapalooza and Up In The Sky this summer.

A standout track from Inhale / Exhale that became a fan favorite in the original release, “Music is Better”, with its elevated, lively energy is reimagined in Maxi Meraki’s version, adding further layers to the beats sonically and elongating builds.

Fahlberg’s take on “New York” and Emanuel Satie’s on “The Life” both start out a bit more upbeat than the remixed version of “Music is Better”, adding to the already incredibly skilled base of the songs. With captivatingly relatable and profound lyrics paired with a perfect balance between indie and electronic feels, both of these releases pose as highlights to an incredibly well thought-out album.

Each of the artists and producers featured on the remix album brings a distinct component to their tracks, showing off their individual niches and specialties within the electronic music scene, while still being able to capture the ethereal, other-worldly sound that continues to  be very on-brand for RÜFÜS.
