Lana Del Rey unveiled her brand new single, “Bluebird,” on April 18th, via Interscope Records.
The track marks her second official release of 2025 following “Henry, come on.” Known for her cinematic soundscapes and deeply introspective lyrics, Del Rey continues to evolve her sonic palette with “Bluebird,” a melancholic, slow-burning ballad that draws listeners into her signature world of nostalgia and emotional depth.
“Bluebird” was co-written by Del Rey and acclaimed songwriter-producer Luke Laird, with production done by the pair alongside Drew Erickson. Laird, known for his genre-spanning work across country and pop, brings a gentle, grounded touch to the track, complementing Erickson’s lush orchestration. The result is a song that feels both intimate and expansive, but with fresh sonic textures.
In a recent Instagram reel, Del Rey revealed that the track was born from a real-life experience:
“I started humming this chorus to myself, with the words and the melody, a long time ago when I had been seeing someone for a very long time and we hadn’t seen each other for a while, and he called and he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. I was kind of excited, but I didn’t think it was a very good idea. All of a sudden a bird smacked in the double-pane window doors of my bedroom. I was shocked, and I opened the little door and I saw this little, I think it was a little sparrow, little swallow, right there, and I just was so emotional because you know when you just know that something is meant for you? Like sometimes I feel like nature has its own way of communicating with you, especially in extremely severe situations not in a sacrificial way, just in a way just for you to know.”
Next up, the singer is set to headline Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, on April 25th. She’ll then cross the Atlantic for a highly anticipated sold-out summer tour across the UK and Ireland — her first stadium tour in the region — including back-to-back nights at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
