SMUT has announced their new album, Tomorrow Comes Crashing, will be out June 27 via Bayonet Records.

Along with the announcement, SMUT dropped the first single “Syd Sweeney” as well as its music video which was shot and directed by Jo Shaffer & Spencer Peppet. This is SMUT’s first album with drummer, Aidan O’Connor and bassist, John Steiner.

The single “Syd Sweeney” is a heavy, guitar-driven track inspired by actress Sydney Sweeney and the scrutiny women face in the public eye. “It’s about how strange it can be to be a woman, to be misunderstood by people who don’t even know you,” says vocalist Tay Roebuck. The video dives into horror film tropes to explore the double standards women face around sexuality and success.

Tomorrow Comes Crashing is the follow up to the band’s 2022 debut album How the Light Felt, which earned them praise for its blend of 80s guitar pop and shoegaze. The new record builds on that sound with a sharper edge channeling years of touring, personal upheaval, and DIY perseverance.

SMUT will be opening for the band, SPELLLING, on their headlining tour later this month.
