It may have been a Monday night but the party doesn’t stop when Rebecca Black is in town. A heavily sold out Sinclair in the heart of Harvard Square was ready for Rebecca to grace the Boston stage again. It had been two years since she last toured in Boston, at the same venue, so fans were eager at the chance to catch her again this time around.
Fresh off releasing her latest album ‘SALVATION’ which has gotten immense praise and some of her best work yet, Rebecca was ready to finally perform these songs live. The seven track album features hits like “TRUST!”, “Sugar Water Cyanide”, and “Salvation”, but let’s be honest the whole album is all hits no skips.
The crowd was in for a treat that night as they would get to hear the entirety of the new album along with some of her other his like “Crumbs“, and “Worth It For The Feeling“, just to name a few. Rebecca always knows how to put on such an iconic and memorable performance and it was so evident in Boston.
Before she would take the stage, a video board would display the lyrics to “Friday” and play a remix of the hit song, and then count down to the show starting. The crowd eagerly sang along in anticipation. Her two dancers strutted out to the stage and proceeded to kiss and the crowd cheered. Then out came Rebecca in iconic faux-fur, knee-high boots, as she peered over her sunglasses, wrapped up like a mummy in white fabric. Her dancers unraveled the gauze wrapped around her as she sang “Tears In My Pocket”.
She performed this show almost in a theatrical way, having different acts within her set and different costume changes for each one. What an iconic way to deliver a performance. Her other outfits included a Madonna-inspired cone bra fit and cheetah-print number with a diva-esque white fur coat. There was even a fan participation moment in the show where a lucky fan got to go on stage with Rebecca and her dancers and try to drink the “Sugar Water Cyanide” drink. What a cool moment for that person.
Rebecca would take moments throughout the show to show her appreciation for Boston, saying- “It’s such an honor to be back here, especially at The Sinclair, because this was the place I kicked off my last headlining tour…and let me tell you, y’all kicked me off right”. And Boston sure knows how to bring the energy each time because this night the crowd was electric and everyone was dancing all night, it was like being at a club. Rebecca and her dancers kept the energy alive all night and absolutely served. Rebecca brings the party vibes with her at every show and she really does a great job at commanding the stage and drawing the audience in with her. If you ever get the chance to go to one of her shows, (which you should) you’ll know exactly what we mean by that.
You can catch her on the rest of her tour with tour dates here.
