Over the years, Magnetic Skies has infiltrated the airwaves with their stunning blend of electronica and darkwave music. Whether fans want to revel in the past or lean into the future, Magnetic Skies’ synth-based sound will take them there. Take, for instance, the group’s 2023 debut album, Empire Falling. Its fresh yet timeless feel earned praise from tastemakers like Electronic Sound, MusicRadar, and Blitzed Magazine. It also built up the anticipation for more music from Magnetic Skies, which has not yet been released—until now.
To follow up Empire Falling, Magnetic Skies give us “A Place on Earth.” The single is adorned with soaring vocals and dreamy synth riffs, giving the track an expansive vibe. All the while, lead vocalist Simon Kent’s theatrical voice weaves us through time and space, to a special place he describes in the lyrics. He sings, “I want to reach out for the moments we can make / I want connection to the feelings in your head / No escape from the noise that steals your mind,” and ultimately asks, “Can you see / A place on Earth / That’s yours and mine?”
About the single, Simon explains,
“We wanted to create something sharp, urgent, and full of energy—taking inspiration from Bowie’s ‘Fashion’ but making it our own. It’s a song about finding your place in a chaotic world.”
You can listen to “A Place on Earth” here.
On Saturday, April 12, Magnetic Skies will be performing at 229 in London. They will then open for Heaven 17 at CHALK in Brighton on May 25. Tickets for both shows can be found here.
