After years of creative chemistry, The Knocks and Dragonette are unveiling their latest project, Revelation. In anticipation of the album, they’ve put out their newest single, “Foolish Pleasure”. The Knocks are comprised of James Patterson and Ben Ruttner, the duo produce a dizzying array of danceable, New York–inspired music. Alongside them is Dragonette, a Canadian electro-pop powerhouse, also known as Martina Sorbara.
“Foolish Pleasure” showcases the collaboration between The Knocks and Dragonette by blending synths and vocals into an entrancing indietronica song about the pursuit of adventure. When the stress of life becomes overwhelming, it’s only natural to want to “break out” and do something out of the ordinary.
The single is part of The Knocks’s and Dragonette’s unreleased album, Revelation. The album’s marketing campaign is inspired by 1980s corporate liminal spaces at a fictional company called Revelation Technologies, with Aquaria (RuPaul’s Drag Race winner) serving as the muse. The campaign offers a satirical take on the assimilation of marketing and art in the modern landscape. It’s presented through the viewpoints of executives shoving “quick-fix pill products” to anyone and everyone. This collaboration follows The Knocks and Dragonette’s 2019 GRAMMY-nominated single Slow Song.
Keep a close eye on The Knocks, Dragonette, and the muse Aquaria—and get ready for the big reveal on June 6th. You can pre-save the Revelation album here.
