Melodic Music Monday: March 9

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Cameron Whitcomb, “Options” – Canadian singer-songwriter, Cameron Whitcomb, has been open about his struggles with addiction and his journey to sobriety. Known for his energy and emotionally personal storytelling, Whitcomb dives deep into his sobriety journey with his new track, “Options.” Following the release of “Hundred Mile High,” “Options” offers a different, unfiltered look at the intrusive thoughts and lingering “what ifs” that come with recovery.

– Victoria Goodwin

——

Darren Kiely, “Mulcair Road” and “Old & Grey” – Free Flight Records artist, Darren Kiely has released two new tracks,  “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road.” Originally from Cork, Ireland, Kiely blends folk and pop influences, drawing inspiration from traditional Irish music and artists like The Lumineers and Noah Kahan. He gained recognition for his raw vocals and storytelling and moved to NYC in 2022 before signing with Free Flight Records in Nashville.

– Carl Markland

——

Spacey Jane, “How to Kill Houseplants”Spacey Jane strikes a chord with listeners who struggle to walk away from a relationship with newly released single, “How to Kill Houseplants.” The song’s title is a metaphor for self-sabotage, describing the difficult task of walking away from something that is already dying.

– Reagan Denning

——

George Redwood, “ROOTS” – The song captures the feeling of being consumed by external pressures while yearning to reconnect with oneself. Redwood’s ability to translate such a complex emotion speaks to his strength as both a songwriter and performer. The repeated plea of the chorus, “Take me back to my roots again,” captures the song’s central theme — returning to one’s foundation, finding clarity, and reconnecting with an authentic self.

– Joseph Ine
