Etham “Sill Can’t Move On” on new single

Date:

When Etham signed to a major record label at only 18 years old, he realized that releasing music to satisfy others’ expectations was not for him. He ended up walking away from the label, valuing authenticity and truth over any type of preconceived or manufactured format. Since then, the UK singer-songwriter has moved people with his music, with songs that speak from the heart and heal the soul. He has also built quite the reputation as a songwriter, working with the likes of producers such as Red Triangle, Nick Atkinson, and Edd Holloway.

This year, Etham is set to release his highly anticipated EP Everything and Nothing, which will continue to uphold his reputation as an artist who will make you feel all the feels. The project follows the course of a relationship, starting with love and ending with heartbreak. He began rolling out this project last year with the release of “There For You,” an aching song full of regret. The track was then followed by “Now That You’re Gone,” a piano-driven tearjerker. Before the EP comes out May 16, Etham is continuing to tease fans by dropping the equally stirring “Still Can’t Move On.”

Co-written with Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Scott Effman (Kelly Clarkson, Dean Lewis), “Still Can’t Move On” is a vulnerable look at what it takes to let go. Accompanied by tender guitar lines, Etham’s vocals are exposed as he sings, “It’s hard to believe that it’s done / There’ll always be a part of me that can’t move on” and “I’ve been trying to be who I was / Before that day that we met / ‘Cause I didn’t need anyone / Till you came and showed me just how wrong I was.” Aside from these lyrics, we can hear his despair through the runs he gives us at the end of certain lines and the “Ohs” that he croons here and there. After experiencing such a deep love, it really feels near impossible to find that strength to get through heartbreak.

Telling us more about “Still Can’t Move On,” Etham explains,

“It’s definitely one of my favorite vocals. I love what Scott did with the track – I think it’s still simple, in a beautiful way, but it’s also got that cinematic quality to it.”
