Kai Bosch is known for his high-energy, queer pop anthems. He openly shares his lived experiences as he reflects on his personal growth over time. His new song “Angel” focuses on how love can cloud your vision. Elaborating more on the song’s meaning, he shares:
“Shortly after my first breakup, I found myself in the thick of a rebound relationship. He was a lovely guy, and there was objectively nothing wrong with him, but I couldn’t help secretly yearning for the past. It’s about being with someone so kind, gentle, and perfect (an angel, if you will) yet still pining for something painful and ugly.”
“Angel” is about being so in love with someone that it’s hard to let that connection go. Through punchy percussion and soft vocals, Kai Bosch reminisces on a past relationship while trying to move on. Lyrics such as “I’m done believing that your heaven is a thing I lost” show how walking away from this relationship was for the better, while it may not always feel that way. About the final product of the song, he says,
“‘Angel’ is my crack at a disco-heartbreak anthem—I wanted to make a song that required a glitter ball and some flared trousers. And not to toot my own horn, but mission success in my opinion!”
