Alban Ramosaj has moved around quite a bit, and has continued making music throughout his journeys. Born in the Netherlands and raised in Albania/Kosovo, the singer-songwriter has since moved to New York where he plans to release his debut English-language EP, Heartbreak Motel. “Ghost of the Past” is the leading single off of his upcoming project; a reflection on his final romantic connection in Europe before moving to the United States.
The new single has a stripped-back folk-pop sound similar to that of The Lumineers (it even has some “ho, heys” thrown in there). The song is simple yet soulful and the message is clear: heartbreak is an emotion that courses through all of us and is translatable across every language. If the leading single is any indication of what’s to come, we can look forward to a strong English debut from Alban Ramosaj.
On “Ghost of the Past” Ramosaj adds,
“This song is a bittersweet goodbye, as I prepared to distance myself, knowing I can’t stay, but the feelings might linger forever. I wrote this song, quite literally as the final goodbye, since I never got the chance to say it in person…”
“Ghost of the past is out now on all streaming platforms. Look out for the release of Alban Ramosaj’s debut English-language EP, Heartbreak Motel, set to be released April 25, 2025.
