Melodic Music Monday: January 27

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Knox, “Pick Your Poison” – “Pick Your Poison” details a playful interaction with a girl at a party, someone who seems out of his league yet gives him a chance anyway. Emphasizing their differences in the first verse with details like tattoos and farm fences, the pair couldn’t be more different. Interest and intrigue find their way as she gives the guy a chance.

– Shauna Hilferty

Ghost Weather, “I Can’t Escape” – “I Can’t Escape” is about drowning in your thoughts. Through deep bass and punchy percussion, Ghost Weather tries to escape the negative mindset he’s trapped in. The chorus sings, “I can’t escape / My head is filled with noise,” showing the chaos Ghost Weather is trying to save himself from.

– Emma Celenza

JP Saxe, “Safe” On “Safe,” JP wonders what it is like to make someone feel safe in a relationship. He owns up to the fact that he is not perfect and spills his heart out about the doubts he has in himself. In the end, however, he is willing to try to be the best partner he can be. Over the indulgent melodies and minimal beats, he sings, “I’m still learning what it means to be protective / Show affection / When to fix it / When to listen / How to say / ‘I’m right here babe’ / I want to make you feel safe.”

– Christine Sloman

Tokyo Tea Room, “I Would” – Hailing from Margate, UK, Tokyo Tea Room‘s new single “I Would” has a rich taste and groovy tone listeners of The Maria’sJungle and Faye Webster are going to devour. With a lush guitar, beautiful bass line and tender vocals, Tokyo Tea Room is able to create a space of relaxation and tranquility within the time of 3 and a half minutes.

– Ezra Kendrick

——

Peach Luffe, “What’s On Your Mind” There is a very distinct, cozy quality to “What’s On Your Mind,” which stands in contrast with the actual tone of the lyrics. The track has a bright, bedroom pop type of feel, with a pleasant combination of acoustic and electronic sounds that create an almost cinematic experience. As easy as it is to listen to, the song is deeply layered, as we discover more and more details that sit in the background, adding to this dream-like soundscape.
