You have to see it to believe it—School of X, the project of Copenhagen-based musician Rasmus Littauer, perfectly captures the vulnerable tone of his single “Angel” featuring Danish singer Helena Gao through a captivating, uniquely crafted music video. From touring Denmark and the world as a drummer for MØ, The Minds of 99 and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour to exploring the alternative pop genre and making it his own, School of X’s passion for music and storytelling—visually and lyrically—has proven to be nothing short of inspiring.
Taken from School of X’s album Seventh Heaven, released on Nov. 1, 2024, “Angel” delves into the complexities of youthful love, while also introducing a darker perspective with lyrics such as “In 7th grade I died / When you looked into my eyes / With my head against the concrete floor.” The voices of School of X and Helena Gao blend seamlessly with the song’s light acoustic instrumentation, adding a refreshing layer of creative depth and emotion.
To bring “Angel” to life on screen, School of X collaborated with Danish visual artist and filmmaker Albert Hildebrand to create a thought-provoking music video. With blurry, out-of-focus visuals, the audience is drawn into a dream-like state from the very start. Pairing visuals with lyrics to convey a specific emotion can be challenging, but School of X does it effortlessly.
