One of the biggest contemporary pop and soul names of today, James Arthur released his newest single, “Celebrate,” on Jan. 17. With over 38 million Spotify followers and 11 UK Platinum singles, Arthur’s newest single is not one to miss.
“Celebrate” is the second release of Arthur’s upcoming album PISCES, and reflects on the past while looking to the future. Arthur sings, “I’ve come a long way from nowhere / I’ve given up on friends of mine / ‘Cause when I needed friends, they weren’t there / A phone call could’ve saved my life / I don’t wanna hate myself no more.” He then asks, “Can anybody help?”
About the single, Arthur added:
“We’re always striving for more and we forget to exercise gratitude for the things that we do have or have achieved and therefore we fail to enjoy those special moments. People often tell me I should celebrate more, but the truth is I’m not very good at it, so I wrote this song about that very thing.”
The PISCES album will explore themes of self-acceptance, vulnerability and mental health, offering a stark contrast to the dreamy nature of his previous records. As a Pisces himself, Arthur said he has always connected with the sign’s chief characteristics of sensitivity, introspection, and being a natural dreamer.
