Raven brings pop punk to 2025 with “Midnight Echoes”

Date:

The emerging pop punk artist Raven has just released her newest single “Midnight Echoes.” This song is a testament to resilience. It’s emotionally evocative with heavy and punchy lyrics that perfectly blend with the traditional punk melody. Each lyrics leads you through a story of self-discovery.

Musically, the melody includes your classic pop punk sounds that the traditional punk genre fan will appreciate. The drums are the highlighted instrument in the beat; they have a consistent tempo throughout the track but slow to emphasize certain lyrics. The song truly sounds like something out of 2005 with a modern twist in the lyrics.

The lyrics in the song are what take center stage. The lyrics were written by R. van der Plas but were executed by Raven perfectly. You hear every emotion behind her words, which is ultimately the goal from these types of tracks. She invites the listener through her words to allow themselves this journey of reflection as she sings you through the song. There’s a powerful emotional pull through her tone as she explores themes of how daunting sitting with your own thoughts can be. The lyrics “Midnight echoes, calling my name / Whispered regrets, driving me insane / The darkness knows all the things I’ve done / But it hides my face from the morning sun” encapsulate these exact emotions.

Overall, the track solidifies Raven as an up-and-coming pop punk princess and showcases her ability to evoke emotion from her audience. Many Avril Lavigne and My Chemical Romance fans will appreciate the earlier 2000s sound she carries in the punk track while managing to keep it modern and fresh.
