So far, Will Sass has made quite an impression this year with “Alicia” and “Into The Blue.” Both tracks showcase the New York-based artist’s skills in production and engineering, consisting of refined layers of beats and rhythms that result in enriching textures and soundscapes. The tracks also showcase Will’s natural ability to work with others, which he has been doing long before he released these singles. With “Alicia,” he worked with Alvin Risk, and on “Into The Blue,” he collaborated with kamille. For his next single, Will is joining forces with Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt for a track that continues to flaunt his talents while confirming his reputation as a go-to collaborator.
Co-written by Nina, “Fairweather Friends” is a final farewell to those who only show up when it’s convenient for them. Guided by Will’s animated production, Nina sings about how much happier she is now that she’s cut out the “fairweather friends” in her life. It all comes out in the choruses, where we hear, “Saying farewell to my fairweather friends / This is goodbye, I won’t say it again / I was mad, I was bitter / But I’m happy without you now.” You can check it out below.
Telling us more about working with Will on “Fairweather Friends,” Nina shares,
“I’ve spent a lot of time writing with upcoming artists the past couple of years, and I have loved working with Will. When he asked me to feature on ‘Fairweather Friends,’ I was really excited to be involved in one of his first releases. I had the pleasure of writing Will’s last song, ‘Into The Blue,’ with him and Kamille, so it’s nice to be singing on this one! He had such a clear story of what ‘Fairweather Friends’ meant to him, so it’s great to be able to bring it to life together.”
