Drew Schueler’s new pop single “It’s Cool” is a mellow reminder to trust in your dreams

Date:

This Nashville singer-songwriter is emerging with new singles in Music City. Drew Schueler just released his newest single “It’s Cool,” after having won the NSAI song contest. His songwriting skills are apparent enough but being able to blend meaningful lyrics into commercial pop is commendable. The mellow, bright melody is the perfect amount of modern pop, as it doesn’t lean heavily into radio pop.

Musically, it’s not what you’d expect when you hear pop music. It’s a more relaxed melody that, while still upbeat, doesn’t feel rushed or have a forced musical climax. The coos and adlibs add a sense of serenity to the ambiance of the song, as well. His vocals also stay in a lower register, keeping it short and sweet. The acoustic guitar melody adds a layer of depth against the pop percussion that complements the overall song. The song is on the shorter side, barely over two minutes, but it says all it needs to say, converging its message early in the track. The song, while short, is not rushed and the audience gets to enjoy the  message and themes of the song quickly without having to read between the lines.

Lyrically, the song has a positive undertones. They speak to the journey of chasing a dream and trusting your intuition, and allowing that time to navigate the world and trust the overall process. This theme will speak to many, as it’s common at least once in life to experience wanting to achieve dreams quickly, and as a result you don’t really enjoy the journey there. The lyrics are clear and sincere in their tone. While Schueler uses metaphors, there’s no need to decipher the wording. His sincere lyrics convince the listener that believing in yourself will get you where you need to go.
