Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
Inhaler, “Open Wide” – “Your House,” an indie rock/alternative song, but “Open Wide” showcases a very different musical direction for the band. This shift in sound raises excitement about what the rest of the upcoming album will bring. The single seems to reflect the band’s growth and their exploration of new genres. Lyrically, both songs touch on themes of guardedness and vulnerability, with “Open Wide” further emphasizing these feelings through its departure from the band’s usual sound.

adan diaz, “the middle” – While diaz shows his lightheartedness on these tracks, he also is willing to open up. In “the middle,” he expresses the emotional turmoil he has experienced since his breakup. His emotional lyrics combined with supportive guitar create a safe atmosphere in which he can share his deepest feelings without fear of judgement.

Ski Team, “Me” – “Me” comes alive with sparkling synths, bold notes of saxophone, and choppy beats that get stuck on the ear. Ski Team sings, “You asked me what I really wanted / I couldn’t think of anything but me.” The single is tied together by poignant memories and hypotheticals surrounding a former flame.

Caroline Romano, “Born to Want More” – An anthem full of yearning, “Born to Want More” captures the struggle of being so close yet so far from your dreams. It opens with an audio clip from The Notebook, specifically the scene where Ryan Gosling gives his legendary “What do you want?!” speech. Caroline then builds upon that moment, letting the confusion and rage and self-doubt spill into the track.
