When you listen to Milk & Bone, comprised of musicians Laurence Lafond-Beaulne, and Camille Poliquin, you are whisked away to an expressive world full of wonder and nostalgia. Together, the electro-pop duo create music that can be felt and enjoyed in a safe space, whether it’s for that listener who wants to shut out the world for just a few minutes or for audiences who find themselves out on the town. They definitely know how to set the mood, translating various emotions into bold and vibrant tracks. In addition to albums like 2015’s Little Mourning and 2022’s Chrysalism, for instance, Milk & Bone have made music for Cirque Du Soleil and for feature films like King Dave. Their latest single, “FORGONE,” will not only be featured in the video game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, but it will also be included on their upcoming EP, Baby Dreamer.
On “FORGONE,” Milk & Bone let fear and suspense take over. Throughout the track, we hear lines like “Torture / Inside her veins / She used to be brave” and “Fire all over me / Lately I’ve been only / Running from reality,” giving listeners just enough to make them critical of reality. Meanwhile, the music mixes the light with the dark, as the bright synth is accompanied by dark beats and vibrant melodies. This luminous soundscape is then interjected with ethereal vocals that float among and swirl between the notes, taking us on a haunting yet decadent ride. You can check it out in the video below.
Telling us more about the music video, Milk & Bone share,
“When writing and producing the song with Micah Jasper, it instantly felt like it was set at night. There was something ominous about it, but it still felt extremely personal and driven. There were flashes of driving, of walking really fast, of dancing. Our previous videos had been mostly aesthetic and stoïc, so this feels like a breath of fresh air (quite literally, it was close to the freezing point on the night of the shoot). We’re so grateful to our director, Gerardo Alcaine, for bringing a vision to life to our team at Lighter Than Air as well as Summerhouse Productions. We did this with a very small team and are thrilled about the result.”
Due for release on January 17, Baby Dreamer promises to be an exploration of human connection and emotion. If you want raw, crazy, empowering – it’s all there. For the most part, Milk & Bone give fans a bold look into their hearts and minds, fearlessly presenting what’s inside with the world.
