You Me At Six brings heartfelt farewell performance to Prague

Date:

Iconic British rock band You Me At Six brought The Final Nights of Six tour to Prague’s ARCHA+ on Nov. 22, for an energetic yet emotional show, as the bands final tour. The Final Nights of Six tour celebrates two decades of the band, 2005 to 2025, before they sadly retire from the music industry. Joining them were Scottish rock band The XCERTS and British alternative/indie rock trio Mouth Culture

Mouth Culture started us off, with lead singer Jack Voss bringing the hype from the beginning. With his wild hair and tendency to remove items of clothing the further they got into their set, he led the crowd into an upbeat energy that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Quirky Scottish band The XCERTS were up next. It was clear from the moment they stepped on stage that their energy was different, with the lead singer looking like he stepped out of a retro music video in his flared pants. The crowd went wild for “Feels Like Falling In Love,” a song off their 2018 album.

By the time You Me At Six (Josh Franceschi, Max Helyer, Chris Miller, Matt Barnes, Daniel Flint) took the stage, the anticipation in the room was high. The lights dimmed and intro music played before the band members finally walked onstage, with a large VI figure lighting up to provide the perfect backdrop.

After opening with “Room To Breathe,” Franceschi took hold of the mic stand and used it to hype the crowd up even further. Fans went wild for tracks like “Straight To My Head” and “SUCKAPUNCH.”

Franceschi connected with the audience, often pausing between songs to have a little chat. Whether it was a play on words for the next song’s intro or to tell the crowd how much the band loves Prague. When the room was silent, he spontaneously interacted with hecklers, joking around and visibly becoming confused when he didn’t know what they were saying.

About three quarters of the way through the set, he told the crowd that as this is a farewell tour, he thought it only appropriate to tell the band’s origin story. He swiftly detailed how he had met each band member, usually by chance, and how they became You Me At Six.

Before bringing the energy back up, Franceschi opened up about his struggles with mental health throughout his 20s, letting the audience know that they’re never alone. He stressed the importance of loving yourself and being there to support each other through hard times before heading straight into “Beautiful Way.”

The band’s exit was made emotional by Franceschi’s delivery of the words “We have been, and we will always be, You Me At Six.” Of course, the audience knew that the band wouldn’t leave their farewell tour without an encore, and they didn’t have to wait long before getting one.

The band ran back out onto the stage, carrying a Czech flag that they set down before continuing into their 3-song encore, closing out with “Underdog.” The crowd went absolutely insane, making the most of every last second they could spend with the band. After the last song, Franceschi held up the Czech flag to reveal that it was decorated with the words “WE WILL MISS YOU.” The message was warmly received by the crowd as Franceschi draped the flag over his shoulders and became the last band member to exit the stage.

Farewell tours carry a lot of expectation, and You Me At Six exceeded every single one of them on Friday night in Prague. They played for almost 2 full hours, with Franceschi entertaining and connecting with the crowd at every opportunity. After all, this wasn’t just the last time the crowd would see the band – it was also the last time the band would see the crowd. It was evident that You Me At Six was basking in the moment, soaking up every last drop. From their energy and genuine smiles to unexpected interactions with hecklers and clear chemistry both as friends and as a band, they delivered a heartfelt, charismatic performance, making for an unmatched live experience.

Catch You Me At Six on the remaining dates of The Final Nights of Six tour this year throughout Europe, while the Australia and UK/Ireland dates extend through the spring of 2025.
