On November 14, Oklahoma City-based slowcore group some fear released their newest single, “The Road.” “The Road” is the third single that some fear has released off their upcoming self-titled debut album, out January 16, 2025, via Rite Field Records. Alongside the single’s release, some fear has announced several tour dates across Oklahoma and Texas in January.

“The Road” follows the album’s two previous singles, “Worm” and “Skin I Can’t Peel,” and is so far the heaviest to be released ahead of the record. A deep and somber lo-fi rock track, “The Road” is intended to convey feelings of betrayal and disappointment.

Regarding the new single, some fear frontman Branden “Bran” Palesano says, “I wanted ‘The Road’ to be the heaviest song on the album based on the subject matter. It’s about someone in my past doing something so irredeemable, even though the patterns were there and I should’ve seen it coming, and feeling betrayed by them.”

Through intense, shoegaze-influenced guitar riffs and emotional vocals, some fear’s newest single serves as a definitive track to the band’s upcoming debut full-length album. This record directly follow’s the band’s debut EP, Picture, released earlier this year.

some fear initially began in 2021 as a solo project of Palesano. Known to have developed his own solitary process for songwriting, this reclusive musicianship soon turned into a full-fledged band when Palesano was joined by Ray Morgan, Lennon Bramlett and James Tunell. With a sound that is deeply heartfelt and solemn, some fear’s musicality may also be found to be just as reassuring and cathartic.
