Natalie Lew, best known as Sea Lemon, never pictured herself becoming the musician she is today. That is, until she started playing a roommate’s guitars after moving to New York, leading her to join a friend’s band. Now, she has created a name for herself as indie rock star Sea Lemon, named for the acid-yellow sea slugs living in Washington’s Puget Sound.
Lew released her newest track, “Sweet Anecdote,” on Oct. 31 shortly after her collaboration with Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard on “Crystals.” “Sweet Anecdote” features Lew’s voice over warm guitars and synths, creating a sensation that is as eerie as it is serene. In the chorus, Lew sings, “God I was so sure / Sure when I saw / You in your car / Such a sweet anecdote.”
Upon the track’s release, Lew posted on Instagram:
“I had so much fun writing this spooky song about being obsessed with someone you just met!!! I hope it sends a tingle down ur spine ok! I’m feeling very afraid and spine tingling pre-election already! lol!”
